How it works
The Sale - We call this a Swap (people swapping old for new) but this is actually a consignment sale. This means convenience for you. You don't have to hang around trying to sell your equipment. You just drop off your gear Friday and then on Sunday, you pickup a check and any unsold items. In the mean time, you can get to the ball game or whatever else is going on. You can, of course also hang out at the swap and help out or look for something new or used to replace the items you are selling.
How we (you and the PTSA) make money - You bring your clean, in-safe-condition items, you price it, and we check it into our inventory system. We take 25% of the selling price and you take home 75%. There are no mark-downs or discounting during the sale. We sell it for the price you set.
Preparation - Just bring your items to the Newport High School central commons. There will be signs directing you to the appropriate location. We will have inventory cards for you to fill out. There are directions for filling them out on every table. Volunteers will answer questions as necessary. Some of our volunteers can provide pricing recommendations. Volunteers will then separate the inventory form - receipt (to you), tag (on the item) and the card (in our inventory mgt system) and put the gear in the appropriate place on the floor.
If you have more than 50 items, send a note to don@skiswap.info to pick up invenotry cards in advance.
Ski/Snowboard Shops - Prior arrangements must be made before coming to the swap. If you come ill prepared the day of the swap, we reserve the right to turn you away. Click on the Shops menu for more info. The Snowsports Shops are a critical element of the swap. They provide only 60% of the equipment but over 90% of the technical sales help to the swap customers.
Thank you for participating in our swap whether helping, buying, selling or all three. We will do our very best to make this a good experience.
